An Orange Grove resident died in a single-vehicle crash while traveling south on County Road 308 on Aug. 19.
The preliminary investigation showed the driver, Georgina Perez, 41, left the roadway and entered the eastbound shoulder in a 2021 Jeep Gladiator, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The driver attempted to get back on the roadway but overcorrected, lost control and struck the concrete barrier of the bridge.
The vehicle went over the barrier and fell about 20 feet, landing upside down and catching fire, the news release said.
Perez was pronounced dead on the scene by Jim Wells County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Richard DeLeon.
The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety
troopers assigned to the Alice Highway Patrol Office.
