Nueces County is urging residents to take precautions in Robstown after West Nile virus was detected on Oct. 6.
The virus was detected in a mosquito pool near Fiesta Vista Ranch and the Spring Garden area, according to a news release from the Nueces County judge's office.
The Nueces County Vector Control is spraying daily outside the city limits of Robstown and is monitoring the mosquito pools, the news release said.
Residents of the areas are encouraged to take these precautions:
- Using mosquito repellent including DEET
- Wear long-sleeved shirts and pants
- Avoid outside activities at dawn or dusk, when mosquitos are most active
- Drain any standing water to eliminate breeding
The Robstown detection came after the virus was detected in a mosquito pool on Sept. 25 in Bishop.
