Funeral arrangements have been announced by the Snapka family for matriarch Maxine Snapka, owner of Snapka’s Drive Inn.
Maxine Snapka died on July 26. She was 103.
Her funeral will be held at First United Methodist Church at 900 S. Shoreline Blvd. at 11 a.m. on Aug. 8.
Her daughter, Kathryn Snapka, said Maxine Snapka was active with the family business just months before her passing.
“Even though she couldn’t be physically present, she was always interested in how the business was doing and how we were driving sales,” Kathryn Snapka said in a phone call.

Winkler in 1949. The business grew to five locations, two of which are still open.
Kathryn Snapka said her mother suffered from congestive heart failure and kidney failure, which were being managed "as well as they could, but time took its toll.”
She attributed the outpouring of support from the community to a combination of great food and the personal touch her parents put in their business.
“Anyone can serve food, but when you treat customers like family, they will come back because they get the feeling of belonging,” Kathryn Snapka said. “I think that’s what a lot of people remember and why they continue to visit us.”
Those wanting to pay their respects may attend Maxine Snapka’s funeral, meet up at the Leopard location for the monthly Snapka’s Nostalgia Nite on July 31 or visit Snapka’s to enjoy a tasty meal, Kathryn Snapka said.
“It makes me feel so good that people remember my mom as a caring person who was always smiling, because that was my mom,” Kathryn Snapka said. “Nothing would make her happier than knowing that she's being remembered by people enjoying good food."
