City of Corpus Christi officials are urging residents to resolve warrants related to legal matters in Municipal Court — including traffic tickets, code enforcement citations and Class C misdemeanor charges — before the consequences become more dire.
In a news release, officials described September as “Warrant Resolution Month” and advocated for residents who have outstanding, unresolved citations to address them either by appearing in one of two court settings or remotely online or by phone, and avoid the potential of being arrested.
The program, it states, offers options “to settle unpaid citations and prevent further legal action.”
To appear in person, residents have the opportunity to visit Municipal Court during the week or attend Community
Court at the Owen R. Hopkins Library on Sept. 19, to address the citations, the news release shows.
An in-person appearance is required if an individual is seeking to discuss possible options with a judge, the email states.
The city’s website lists alternative options that could be considered, including defensive driving and deferred disposition.
Showing up in person, it states, will not lead to arrest.
Individuals can also choose to resolve issues remotely, either by phone or online, according to the news release.
