Longtime South Texas baseball coach and broadcaster Gene Kasprzyk added another honor to his career after the Hooks dedicated the home radio broadcast booth to him on Saturday, July 25.
The booth will be known as the Gene Kasprzyk Home Broadcast Booth in recognition of his 20 seasons calling Hooks baseball games alongside play-by-play announcer Michael Coffin.
Kasprzyk coached at Sinton for 29 seasons, leading the Pirates to state championships in 1988, 1989 and 2002.
His teams also won 22 district championships, including 10 consecutive titles, and made seven state tournament appearances.
Kasprzyk won nearly 800 games and was inducted into
the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2021.
He was named the Texas Sportswriters Coach of the Year in 2002 and earned Caller-Times South Texas Baseball Coach of the Year honors three times.
In 2019, Sinton ISD renamed its baseball field in honor of Kasprzyk.
