From July 23 through July 29, Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District inspectors found cooked food stored on the floor, employees working without food handler permits and other health violations at restaurants.
Out of more than 50 businesses inspected, 14 scored below a 95, and 20 received perfect scores. During the seven days, Pizza Patrón on Ayers Street and Turtle's Poolside Grill in Port Aransas scored the lowest with 89s.
The health district describes a food establishment as a place that sells or serves food to the public. These establishments, which can include bars, hotels, apartments, schools and food trucks, must get an annual permit and be inspected by the health district.

Inspections are based on a demerit system in accordance with the Texas Department of State Health Services. The inspection report checks for 47 different violations.
Here's how businesses scored from July 23 through July 29:
July 23
Sixteen businesses were inspected. The following scored a 95 or higher:

- Inspectors found a cook preparing a taco without gloves, toxic chemical bottle unlabeled, food not dated, food not labeled, wet towels not stored in sanitizer solution when not in use and food not covered.
- Jalisco's Kitchen was last inspected in March and received an 84.
- Pizza Patrón: 4918 Ayers St. (89)
- Inspectors found food not labeled, no certified food manager present, employees without food handler permits, food not dated, three-compartment sink not set up and a dirty can opener.
- Pizza Patrón was last inspected in February and received a 93.
July 24
Twelve businesses were inspected. The following scored a 95 or higher:
