License plate readers — technology that has been around for at least a decade — have gone from a possibly little-known tool to major headlines and backlash.

in Corpus Christi?
Residents can soon tune in for answers.
An agenda item for the Aug. 25 City Council meeting, shown as requested by Mayor Pro Tem Kaylynn Paxson, is described as a “Briefing on the City's license plate reader systems and Non-City owned Flock Cameras.”
Residents can attend the meeting in person; however, City Council meetings are also livestreamed on YouTube.
