A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Business State Highway 35 in Rockport the morning of Sept. 7, according to the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department.
The woman who died was an employee of Rosita’s Taco Shop and Fresco Eats, the department said in a Facebook post.
The department did not identify the woman or give more details about the incident.
“We always hope that when we are called to an emergency, we can bring about the best possible outcome,” the department’s Facebook post read. “When a member of our community loses their life, it weighs heavily on all of the first responders involved. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends, coworkers, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Shop said the woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at a “very busy” crosswalk near the restaurant.
“She was a mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and a beloved member of our Rosita’s Taco Shop and Fresco Eats family,” the post read. “She was someone who was a part of our everyday lives, and losing her so suddenly has left all of us heartbroken.”
The restaurant shared a GoFundMe page to help the woman’s family with funeral costs. The fundraiser had exceeded its goal of $10,000 by the night of Sept. 7.
