Corpus Christi ISD plans to demolish several closed schools.
On July 27, the Corpus Christi Independent School District school board will consider approving contractual agreements for demolition projects
at Fannin, Kostoryz, Sanders and Travis elementary schools and Browne and Martin middle schools.
Each of these campuses was closed at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year. Though Haas Middle School was also closed, a demolition contract for this campus is not included in meeting documents.
But there is a proposed demolition agreement for the Corpus Christi ISD Instructional Resource Center, a district office that previously served as Cunningham Middle School. Meeting documents indicate that the district is considering relocating staff from the center to the now-vacant Haas Middle School.
According to meeting documents, the demolitions would be complete by June 2027, pending contract approval.
The district would fund the demolitions with $3.6 million of funds from the 2022 school bond.
The school board is also set to approve a contract to relocate playground equipment from Kostoryz, Sanders, Fannin and Travis elementary schools for installation at Smith, Galvan, Houston and Garcia elementary schools. According to meeting documents, this would be complete by Oct. 2.
Other consent agenda items include a roof replacement contract for Driscoll Middle School and Schanen Estates Elementary School; a parking lot improvement contract for Kaffie Middle School; and a contract for architectural services in relation to parking improvements at Dawson, Galvan and Kolda elementary schools, as well as Haas Middle School, which the district is considering repurposing.
