A memorable outfit showcasing Selena Quintanilla-Perez’s unique style, highlighted in her performances and music videos, has found a new home.
In a Sept. 29 Instagram post, Chris Perez, who was her husband at the time that she died in 1995, wrote that the outfit she wore on the cover of her 1994 album, “Amor Prohibido,” was now on display at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
The outfit was “officially unveiled and guess what…it’s in between the Eddie Van Halen display, Kurt Cobain’s guitar, AND the Michael Jackson display,” Perez wrote.
“Thanks again to all Selena’s fans for keeping her music alive because without you guys, none of this would be possible!” he added.
Being featured in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is among the highest recognitions
in the music industry.
More widely known as “Selena” without her surname, the Queen of Tejano was raised in Corpus Christi and remains a larger-than-life figure in the music world.
She is honored with a statue within a mirador on the seawall looking over the Corpus Christi bayfront, visited by residents and tourists alike.
