An employee of the Robstown Independent School District was arrested after a federally led investigation related to internet crimes against children, Superintendent Marc Puig said in an Aug. 5 Facebook post.
The employee was arrested by the Federal Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force after a multi-agency operation led by Homeland Security Investigations, Puig said. The school district immediately terminated the person’s employment.
Puig said that based on information confirmed by investigating authorities, no Robstown ISD student was involved in this matter.
"Investigating authorities have confirmed that the alleged conduct occurred at the individual’s private residence, entirely outside District property, systems, and activities, and involved
no Robstown ISD student," Puig said in an email to the Caller-Times.
Puig did not name the employee.
Robstown Police Chief Mike Tamez confirmed that the suspect was arrested at 7 a.m. on Aug. 5 at a residence on Mesquite Street.
He could not comment on the identity of the suspect or the criminal charges.
The operation was assisted by the Corpus Christi Police Department, Nueces County Sheriff’s Office and Robstown Police Department.
“The safety and security of our children remain our highest priority, and will never be compromised,” Puig said in the post.
