Hurricane Isaias is expected to remain east of the Coastal Bend, bringing limited effects across the western Gulf waters, the local office of the National Weather Service said.
Whitecap Beach and Michael J. Ellis Beach and Seawall are under red flag warnings as a result of high rip current risks, according to Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation.
As of 7 a.m. on Oct. 8, Aransas, Kleberg and Nueces counties and Calhoun Islands are under high rip current risk until the evening. The risk could last through Oct. 10.
A small craft advisory is also in effect starting Oct. 8 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9.
Residents and visitors are urged to stay out of the surf or avoid swimming if possible.

swimming conditions are especially near piers or jetties.
The National Hurricane Center reports Isaias, which was a Category 1 hurricane as of the morning of Oct. 8, is expected to strengthen when approaching the northern Gulf Coast on Oct. 9, affecting portions of the Florida Panhandle, southern Alabama and southern Mississippi.
The Coastal Bend is not projected to see rainfall into the weekend, with drier air and warmer temperatures forecast. However, minor coastal flooding remains a concern.
