About four dozen people will vie for a seat on the Corpus Christi City Council in the upcoming November election.
The filing period closed Aug. 17.
Included among those seeking office are nine planning to challenge incumbent Mayor Paulette Guajardo, including two sitting City Council members, Kaylynn Paxson and Gil Hernandez. Paxson, as mayor pro tem, is serving as mayor through Sept. 6 while Guajardo completes a 30-day suspension recently issued by a six-member council tribunal.
The names of candidates are listed as shown in city secretary documents.
