My response to the letter by Gary Taylor("Those who enter the country illegally are not 'our neighbors'") is that imbedded within his beliefs is the story of an artisanal cabinet maker and his teenaged pregnant wife fleeing the oppression of military rule that backed an oppressive dictator royal family. Of course, Mr. Taylor has ignored the fact that Joseph, Mary and the future Jesus were in fact refugeeswho crossed into foreign lands without permission.
It is likely that Mary recounted this event to her son Jesus and her other children from and by Joseph to provide them with the empathy toward the downtrodden in the true "Christian" sense.
