East Tennessee fans of Disney's 1998 film, "The Parent Trap," are in luck this weekend. Elaine Hendrix, who played Meredith Blake, will be at the Tennessee Theatre on Aug. 16 for a meet and greet, plus a screening of the beloved movie.
The Aug. 16 screening will begin at 2 p.m. at 604 S. Gay St. in downtown Knoxville. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
In addition to meeting with attendees of the movie screening, Hendrix will be hosting a twin-themed costume contest.
Who is Elaine Hendrix?
Hendrix, an actress and producer, most known for her role in "The Parent Trap" has special ties in Tennessee, she is an Oak Ridge native. Hendrix grew up in "Atomic City" before moving to Morristown.
"I'm so proud to be from East Tennessee. I think it's such a beautiful part of the country.
I know the Smoky Mountains is one of, I think it's the number one visited park in the entire country, and for very good reason. It's just so beautiful and I think we're called the Volunteer State for a reason. I certainly grew up learning to get involved in my community and so I'm very proud," Hendrix previously told Knox News.
She has appeared in films such as Freakier Friday and Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, but Hendrix is best known for her role in The Parent Trap as Meredith Blake, the twins' scheming future stepmother. The twins, Hallie Parker and Annie James, were both played by Lindsay Lohan.
Hendrix recently appeared on Season 34 of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." Alongside partner, Alan Bersten, Hendrix came in fifth overall on the dance competition show.
What is 'The Parent Trap?'
Disney's 1998 "The Parent Trap" was a remake of the 1961 film of the same name.
The movie follows identical twins, Hallie and Annie who have been separated at birth, the former to live with their father in California and the latter to live with their mother in England. The twins meet at summer camp just before their twelfth birthday and switch places.
Once it's discovered the two have swapped lives, the pair try to reunite their parents, Nick Parker, played by Dennis Quaid and Elizabeth James, played by Natasha Richardson, but Hendrix's character, Meredith Blake has plans to marry Nick Parker and send the twins to boarding school.
