Tennessee football fans already know who David Gabriel Georges, the five-star running back who committed to the Vols over Ohio State on July 22. But he recently caught the attention of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, too.
Manning tuned into a nationally televised game between Gabriel Georges' Chattanooga Baylorand Brentwood Academy on Aug. 20 to see his cousin Marshall, the son of quarterback legend Peyton Manning, attempt his first high school pass. But Manning couldn't help but notice Marshall's teammate, Gabriel Georges, the 6-foot and 210-pound recruit ranked as the No. 1 player in Tennessee by 247Sports.
“He’s at a really good school,” Manning said about his cousin, Marshall, on Aug. 26. “They have a really good running back. He looks yoked.
What are they feeding those guys?”
Manning's description of the future UT tailback as "yoked," meaning to have large and well-defined muscles, fit as Gabriel Georges barreled through the Brentwood defense all night long.
In a star-studded matchup that featured seven players committed to power conference schools, including a fellow UT commit in Brentwood's Kesean Bowman, Gabriel Georges stole the show. He accounted for 250 total yards, three touchdowns (all in the fourth quarter) and a number of viral highlights as Baylor won convincingly, 38-20, to open its 2026 season.
Gabriel Gorges is coming off a junior season in which he rushed for 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns and skyrocketed up recruiting rankings. He's the No. 11 overall recruit and No. 2 running back in the class of 2027 by 247Sports.
Manning and the Longhorns are slated to play UT at Neyland Stadium on Sept. 26 for both teams' SEC openers.
