After nearly four years as a sports reporter with WATE, Casey Kay has announced her final day will be Sept. 18. She did not share what her next role would be.
"Rocky Top truly became home & a piece of it always will be. What’s to come is far more than could’ve hoped for & I couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter - more on that soon," Kay said in her announcement posted to X.
Kay studied marketing and broadcast journalism at Pennsylvania State University. Following her graduation, she moved to WDTV 5 News in Bridgeport, West Virginia, according to her LinkedIn. During her time in the Mountain State, Kay worked first as a sports anchor and reporter, then was promoted to sports director.
Kay began working at Channel 6 in Knoxville in October 2022 and covered high school and college sports throughout East Tennessee.
"I’ve always enjoyed being able to capture the little moments and stories that not everyone sees at first glance, but are the ones you don’t want to miss. Doing so in a community that cares, makes it even greater," Kay said on her WATE biography.
Kay joins a list of TV personalities who have left the Knoxville market over the past few months.
