Peyton Manning’s got the perfect way to get Vols fans riled up ahead of one of the biggest games of the year: a good ole country song – with Riley Green!
Manning and Green dropped the surprise duet “Alabama Vs. Tennessee”
on Oct. 12, just days before the two teams face off for the Third Saturday in October at Neyland Stadium. The playful acoustic song features Manning (a Vols legend) and Green (a loyal Crimson Tide fan) sparring over the heated college football rivalry. The song is filled with “Rocky Top,” “Knoxville” and “roll Tide” references. But after the two trade a few jabs, they ultimately find common ground through boots, country music and Southern women, encouraging the two fandoms to also find shared interests.
The accompanying music
video is fittingly set in a dive bar as the two friendly foes throw back a few beers and Green strums a guitar. And, of course, Manning is repping Tennessee colors with a checkered orange and white shirt.
Green also mentions the Tennessee-Alabama rivalry in his 2022 song “Hell of a Way to Go.”
When will Riley Green be in Knoxville?
Despite being an Alabama fan, Green has some love for Knoxville and East Tennessee, too.
He will play Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center on April 30 as part of his "That's Just Me" tour. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster.
Green also is serving as a coach for the Sevierville duo Ferryn and Brinkley Wright on the current season of “The Voice.” Green advanced the sister duo to the next round of the competition on the Oct. 6 episode of the NBC singing show.
