Boom Ball is adding a second date to its Knoxville stop after tickets sold quickly.
The traveling co-ed baseball experience will now host games April 30 and May 1 at Covenant Health Park as part of the Babe Ruth Hologram Tour. For both games, festivities start around the downtown stadium at 5:30 p.m. and a game between the Luck Llamas and Chaos Crew set for 7 p.m.
After announcing a one-date stop last month, demand was high. It prompted Boom Ball to put on a second game in the Old City venue.
"Added by popular demand, a 2nd Boom Ball game hits Knoxville on 4/30 with trick plays & wild stunts!" the tour posted on Facebook.
After Banana Ball brought a record crowd to the stadium in 2026, fan-focused baseball is making more stops in Knoxville with
Boom Ball. Banana Ball, which is a different league, also will be playing a two-game set June 4-5 between the Indianapolis Clowns and Texas Tailgaters next year.
"We have been working hard to bring more special events to Covenant Health Park and Boom Ball is a perfect fit," Jeremy Boler, executive vice president of Boyd Sports, said in a news release.
What are the rules of Boom Ball?
Boom Ball is a six-inning game, with each frame featuring a different format:
- Speedball (first and fourth innings): This format features a pitcher, a running clock and no balls or strikes.
- Fanball (second and fifth innings): Everything in foul territory is live, and players can take the action into the stands.
- Softball (third inning): Softball pitchers step up to the mound and take over for a frame.
- Dueling Derby (sixth inning): Both teams stand in the batter's box and take simultaneous swings.
Fans can expect trick plays, a light show, fireworks and "many more memorable moments on the field and in the stands," according to the Boom Ball website. Each game lasts two hours from the first pitch to the final out.
