AJ Dungan, a class of 2028 right-handed pitcher from Nashville, committed to Tennessee baseball on Sept. 29.
Dungan attends Lipscomb Academy and is considered one of the top prospects in his class from Tennessee. He is ranked by both Perfect Game and Prep Baseball Report as the top right-handed pitching prospect in the state. Perfect Game ranks Dungan as the No. 167 overall player in the 2028 class and No. 34 right-handed pitcher.
Dungan announced his decision in an Instagram post. "I am extremely blessed and excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Tennessee to continue my academic and baseball career!" he wrote. "... I am beyond excited to start this next chapter of my life! Go Vols!"
Dungan visited Tennessee this past weekend
as the football team played No. 1 Texas.
His commitment is coach Josh Elander's fifth in the class of 2028. The Vols previously received commitments from catcher Logan Arnett, right-handed pitchers Mason Little and Trigg Listerman and outfielder/first baseman Keelan Zumwalt.
Dungan stands at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds with a fastball that can reach the mid-90s. He was ranked this summer by Baseball America as the No. 57 MLB draft prospect from high school in the 2028 class.
