Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop left the game against Kennesaw State due to injury on Sept. 19, putting strain on an already thin backfield.
Bishop, a former Karns High standout, landed awkwardly after a 26-yard run in which he broke multiple tackles. He put his hand on his left hip. Then he walked off the field on his own power after being attended to by athletic trainers.
Bishop went directly to the medical tent. It's a notable injury because he's an All-SEC running back and the backfield is already plagued by injuries.
Running backs Javin Gordon and Justin Baker are out for the Kennesaw State game after suffering injuries in UT's 45-24 win over Georgia Tech on Sept. 12. Gordon suffered an apparent leg injury against Georgia Tech and did
not return. Baker wore a wrap on his hand after partially blocking a punt in that game.
Those injuries puts a heavy load on sophomore Daune Morris and other reserves, depending on whether Bishop can return.
