It continues to disappoint me that Sen. Bill Hagerty will not acknowledge to his own constituents the result of the 2020 presidential election. I know this because I wrote to the senator on June 10 and had two simple questions:
- Who won the 2020 presidential election popular vote?
- Who won the 2020 presidential election in the Electoral College?
The senator's written response to me (signed by an autopen no doubt) avoided answering my simple questions. Instead, he wrote, "I always appreciate hearing from Tennesseans, and I take your thoughts seriously. Please know that I have received your concerns and will give them every consideration." I didn't express any concerns (although he may have discerned that I have plenty of them ) and he obviously didn't give them every consideration, or even any consideration.
Why does a United States senator who holds a law degree
and was in the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, avoid answering these simple questions? Could it be Bill Hagerty doesn't want to displease (or worse) the man sitting in the White House, a man who has repeated falsehoods thousands of times since that election? Could it be Sen. Hagerty doesn't have the integrity, courage or honesty to answer truthfully? All I can conclude is that he is a denier of inconvenient election facts.
Hint: Correct answers are (1) Biden and (2) Biden.
