Halloween is coming up, so it's time to try to get your kids to commit to this year's costume choice and - depending on your level of willpower - consider when to stock up on candy for the big bowl.
If
you're a recent transplant to Knoxville, you might be accustomed to communities that announce official hours for trick-or-treating - maybe even on dates other than Oct. 31. Knoxville and Knox County don't do that, so don't look for a local government announcement before everyone dons their costumes and heads out. Trick-or-treating will be on Oct. 31, sometime in the evening but at no officially set hours.
Here are a few other trick-or-treat options to try that night, aside from touring your own neighborhood or visiting another one:
- Downtown Knoxville: Trick or Treat on the Square will be 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Kids can get a free bag at the Downtown Knoxville table at 17 Market Square, and then trick or treat for candy - or fun, non-candy treats - at shops, restaurants, and businesses around Market Square and along Union Avenue. - West Town Mall: If it's too rainy or chilly out, or you'd just like to get an early start on the fun, West Town Mall's "Malloween" will offer a free indoors community trick-or-treat event for families 1-3 p.m. Oct. 31.
- The Island in Pigeon Forge: If you want to take your trick-or-treat outing in Sevier County, The Island in Pigeon Forge will offer family-friendly trick-or-treating 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at participating stores and attractions, plus a Halloween-themed fountain show with spooky music and lighting effects.
