Hilary Duff got a little taste of Nashville and Knoxville during a recent concert stop in Music City – all thanks to Kelsea Ballerini.
Country star Ballerini surprised Duff on stage with Hattie B’s hot chicken during Duff’s July 30 show at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville.
"We've gotten to put a 'Hole in the Bottle' in your neck of the woods, but we've never got to have Nashville chicken in our neck of the woods. It felt like it was time. Welcome to your second home,” the Knoxville native said while hand-delivering the meal.
Duff opened the plate of food to find hot chicken tenders, mac and cheese, banana pudding and pickles before joking, "Kelsea delivers hot chicken in Nashville. I'm never leaving."
At every stop of Duff's “Lucky Me Tour," she’s
been sampling food or drinks tied to the city she's visiting. It’s become a highlight of the tour, but Ballerini with Hattie B’s added a little heat to the Nashville show.
And soon, Knoxville will be able to get a taste of Hattie B’s hot chicken, too. A Hattie B’s location is opening Aug. 12 on the ground floor inside the Hub Knoxville student apartment building at 2001 Cumberland Ave.
"Knoxville was a place from the very beginning we wanted to make our way to," co-founder Nick Bishop Jr. told Knox News. "It was always on the map with a pin in it."
More Knoxville locations are in the works as well, according to Bishop.
