This won't be President Trump's first visit to Knoxville when he attends the football game between Tennessee and Texas on Sept. 26 at Neyland Stadium. And this won't be the first time a sitting president, a former president or even a future president has been to University of Tennessee.
No. 13 Tennessee (3-0) plays No. 1 Texas (3-0)on Sept. 26 (noon ET, ABC) at Neyland Stadium in the SEC opener.
Trump visited Knoxville on Nov. 16, 2015 for a rally at the Convention Center during his presidential campaign.
Other presidents have visited the University of Tennessee campus. In 1970, Richard Nixon participated in the Billy Graham Crusade at Neyland Stadium. Gerald Ford, a former University of Michigan football player, spoke at UT and visited the athletics
department in 1985 as a former president.
Lyndon B. Johnson visited UT in 1964. Ronald Reagan held a presidental briefing at UT in 1985. And George H. W. Bush spoke on campus in 1990.
Woodrow Wilson gave the UT commencement speech in 1890, 12 years before he became president. At the time, he was a political science professor at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
