Tennessee football's home game vs. Texas on Sept. 26 will air on ABC, it was announced on Sept. 14.
The matchup, which is set to kick off at noon, was previously designated as broadcasting on either ESPN or ABC when the SEC revealed game time windows and TV designations for conference games back in June.
Broadcast information and exact kickoff times for Tennessee's final eight games of the season are still unannounced. Five of those games are in "flex" slots, meaning they'll be in either the 3:30-4:30 p.m. period or the 6-8 p.m. window: Auburn (Oct. 3), at Arkansas (Oct. 10), Alabama (Oct. 17), at Texas A&M (Nov. 14) and LSU (Nov. 21). UT's game at South Carolina will kick off in the 3:30-4:30 p.m. window on Oct. 24. The Vols will play night games between
6-8 p.m. at home against Kentucky on Nov. 7 and on the road at Vanderbilt on Nov. 28.
The Vols' matchup with Texas will not only be their SEC opener, but also potentially their first time hosting a No. 1 ranked team at Neyland Stadium since playing No. 1 Georgia on Nov. 18, 2023.
Texas, led by quarterback Arch Manning — the nephew of legendary Vols quarterback Peyton Manning — moved into the top spot in the US LBM Coaches Poll this week after beating then-No. 1 Ohio State on Sept. 12. The Longhorns are also No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25.
Tennessee is currently No. 14 in the coaches poll and is No. 15 in the AP poll.
Both teams are favored to enter the matchup undefeated as big favorites this week. After beating Georgia Tech 45-24 on Sept. 12, Tennessee plays Kennesaw State on Sept. 19 (7:45 p.m., SEC Network). Texas is playing UTSA in Week 3.
Tennessee vs. Texas will be the annual Checker Neyland game at Neyland Stadium, when Vols fans coordinate to wear orange and white and create UT's signature checkerboard pattern across the stadium.
Tickets have been sold out for the game since July.
