Tennessee softball is starting to fill out its 2028 recruiting class, which is shaping up to be another talented group of players for the Lady Vols.
Five players have announced their commitment to Tennessee since Sept. 1, the earliest date an NCAA Division I softball program can contact high school juniors. Coach Karen Weekly has signed three straight top-10 high school classes and is set to continue that streak with the 2027 class in November, which is currently ranked No. 8 by On3.
Here's who committed to the Lady Vols in the 2028 class in September.
Reagan Eldred
Reagan Eldred is a 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher from Spring, Texas. The five-star out of Klein Oak High School is ranked No. 14 in the 2028 class by Softball America.
Eldred had a 1.49 ERA with a 13-2
record over 103⅔ innings pitched, holding opposing hitters to a .147 batting average last season. She threw 172 strikeouts and logged 10-plus strikeouts in five games. Eldred's season high was a 14-strikeout performance with only one hit allowed and five walks in a 6-0 complete-game shutout.
Eldred also hit .341 with 26 RBIs, 16 runs scored, five home runs and six doubles.
"This journey has been filled with so many lessons, challenges, and memories that have helped lead me to this moment," Eldred wrote on X. "I want to give all the glory to God for opening doors, giving me strength when things were hard, and leading me exactly where I’m supposed to be."
I am SO excited to announce that I have verbally committed to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Tennessee!
