A Chinese restaurant known for its iconic sign on Kingston Pike is closing at the end of the month after decades in Knoxville.
Plum Tree Chinese Restaurant announced its imminent closure on Facebook, thanking "all the supports and loves you all had given the restaurant in all its years."
The restaurant, located at 7052 Kingston Pike near Swig and Taqueria La Herradura, will permanently close July 31.
Comments on the post from customers recounted some of their favorite memories over the decades.
"I have been a patron of your restaurant since 1986-87. You saw me through pregnancy cravings and many other things throughout my life. I will miss you all and am sad to see you go," one person said. "Knoxville is losing a treasure. Much love and many blessings
to everyone who made your restaurant run over these many years."
Another customer who has been going to Plum Tree since the '90s said the restaurant has the "best lunch deal in town."
"Bearden is quickly losing all of its treasures," the comment said.
Some Plum Tree's most popular menu items include drunken noodles, Mongolian beef, pork fried rice and steamed dumplings.
