We already know legendary Tennessee football quarterback Peyton Manning won't be the guest picker when ESPN's "College GameDay" originates from Ayres Hall on Sept. 26. Johnny Knoxville was announced as the choice on Sept. 24.
Manning will still be part of "College GameDay" and has already been announced to join Pat McAfee’s “Kicking is Easy” contest. A selected UT student will attempt a 33-yard field goal with $1 million at stake.
"College GameDay" will air from 9 a.m. to noon. The final hour will be held inside Neyland Stadium.
It's all an appetizer before the No. 13 Vols (3-0) play No. 1 Texas (3-0) on Sept. 26 (noon ET, ABC). Texas star quarterback Arch Manning is the nephew of Peyton Manning.
Manning is still the most prolific passer in UT history,
having thrown for 11,201 yards over four seasons from 1994-97.
The first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, Manning won a Super Bowl with both the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
Manning endowed a UT scholarship when he graduated in 1998 and it has been awarded to 69 students in the 29 years since.
