Regal will continue to honor Dolly Parton with nationwide screenings of two of her iconic movies, including more showtimes in Tennessee, after already raising money to support the gift of reading for more than 1,000 children.
Parton died Aug. 25 after a brief bout with cancer, and the world is mourning her death while celebrating her life, accomplishments and personality. One way people are remembering the "Queen of Country Music" is through her film performances.
The Regal movie theater chain, which is headquartered in Knoxville, started by showing "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "Steel Magnolias" in movie theaters across Tennessee over the last weekend of August. Tickets for each movie were $9.25, and all of the proceeds went to Dolly
Parton's Imagination Library.
Through those screenings, Regal raised $20,000 to sponsor approximately 1,290 children across Tennessee for a year, providing more than 15,000 books.
Now, Regal is expanding the Dolly Parton tribute to more than 200 theaters in 35 states and Washington, D.C., for Labor Day weekend. "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" will play Sept. 5, 7 and 9, while "Steel Magnolias" will play Sept. 4, 6 and 8. Tickets will be $9.25 and will continue to support Parton's literacy program.
“It was incredible to watch our Tennessee community show up in such a big way to celebrate Dolly Parton and support a cause so close to her heart,” Vikki Neil, senior vice president of marketing at Regal, said in an email to Knox News. “As we expand these screenings nationwide, Regal is excited to see how much more of an impact we can make together for children across the country.”

Hendersonville − Regal Streets of Indian Lake
Knoxville − Regal Pinnacle and Regal Riviera
Greater Nashville Area − Regal Hollywood, Regal Green Hills, Regal Opry Mills and Regal Providence
Along with Washington D.C., Regal will show both movies in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
