A sweet new spot for soft serve has opened at the Knoxville Smokies stadium, and a long-awaited pub is opening at the end of September in downtown Maryville. Plus, a South Knoxville ice cream spot has reopened with new hours after shifting owners.

Scottish pub Wells Tavern opens this month in Maryville
Eric Chadwell and Alice Basler have spent nearly two years renovating a building at 114 E. Broadway Ave. in downtown Maryville to bring Wells Tavern to life. The 2,400-square-foot Scottish pub will open Sept. 19.
The owners wanted to create a spot unlike anything else in the area, serving authentic pub fare and classic brews across three stories with live music, a rooftop bar and a snug, an enclosed seating area traditionally built into pubs for private meetings or patrons who preferred not to be seen.
"I had that same confused look on my face when she mentioned a snug," Chadwell previously told Knox News. "I don't want to Google that."
BerrySocial opens in Covenant Health Park stadium district
BerrySocial, the newest addition to the restaurant and retail spaces at Covenant Health Park, opened Sept. 4 near the stadium's west entrance. It's a casual mix between a smoothie joint and a frozen yogurt destination.
The business serves acai bowls in soft serve form, with a variety of toppings customers can add. The bowls are made with 100% organic berries and no added ingredients.
BerrySocial is open at 122 Stadium Way 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Southside Scoops is now serving ice cream on Sevier Avenue
Southside Garage is expanding its role as a community hub on Sevier Avenue with Southside Scoops, a family-owned ice cream truck that opened Sept. 5 at 1014 Sevier Ave.
The truck had a few trial runs last year before changing owners and is back with new hours and a new menu, joining Dia De Foods as a permanent food truck at the Southside Garage bar.
The new South Knoxville ice cream spot comes amid ongoing street construction to build a roundabout and make other improvements to Sevier Avenue. The hours are 5-9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
