A manhunt is ongoing after an Oct. 4 police pursuit ended with a murder suspect escaping into dense woods along Carden Gap Road, just north of Knox County.
Police have been searching for 41-year-old Corey Huff since responding just after 6 a.m. Oct. 4 to a stabbing at the Kenjo convenience store at 1704 N. Broadway. The victim was found outside the store and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
Huff was spotted just before 8 p.m. later that day at a gas station on Norris Freeway. An Anderson County sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop, KPD said in a news release, but Huff took off and led deputies on a pursuit.
The chase ended on Carden Gap Road, where Huff abandoned his truck and fled into the woods.

Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, established a perimeter and began a search with drone support from the Knox County Sheriff's Office. Police were unable to find Huff after several hours of searching the heavily wooded area.
Police believe Huff was involved in a hit-and-run "in the area of I-40 West and I-275 in West Knoxville" shortly after the stabbing, according to a KPD news release. Following the chase later that night, KPD took possession of Huff’s red 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.
Police have not identified a motive for the stabbing and are continuing to search near Carden Gap Road on Oct. 5. Anyone who sees Huff is urged to not approach him and to call 911 immediately.
People with information about Huff's whereabouts are asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 877-363-8847. Tips can be provided anonymously.
