Regarding a recent article in the News Sentinel regarding Knox County CommissionerAndy Fox’s proposal to ban public Islamic calls to prayer: I support his ordinance and hope he will add it to a future agenda. I by no means infer that Muslims do not have a Constitutional right to prayer; however, prayer should not be disruptive to the community culture and environment.
Muslims can pray in their mosque, homes and any other private location. It is well documented that Islamic public calls to prayer have caused serious disruptions to the daily lives of many American cities; Dearborn, Michigan, serves as an example. Not only Muslims, but any other religion or sect, should not be allowed to violate the peace of its citizenry.
