Former Tennessee baseball player Andrew Fischer continues at a historic pace for home runs in a season. He hit three more for the Biloxi Shuckers on Aug. 27 in an 8-1 win over the visiting Knoxville Smokies.
Fischer, who was a star first baseman for the Vols in 2025, recorded just the eighth three-home run game in franchise history for the Shuckers, which is the Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate. Former Tennessee first baseman Blake Burke, who is now playing for the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, also hit three home runs for the Shuckers this season.
The three homers also put Fischer at 42 on the season, making him the first Brewers minor league hitter to reach 40 home runs in a season since 1974. He only trails Gordon Thomas for the all-time
record of 51 and is tied for 15th in most home runs in a minor league season since 1963.
Fischer also reached 100 RBIs between Biloxi and High-A Wisconsin this season, making him the first Brewers minor leaguer to reach 100 in a season since Hunter Morris in 2012.
Fischer's first home run against the Smokies was a two-run shot that gave the Shuckers a 5-0 lead in the third inning. His second was also a two-run homer and his third was a solo shot in the seventh inning to make it 8-1.
Fischer only played one season at Tennessee after transferring in from Ole Miss, but it was one to remember. He was a consensus first-team All-American after leading the SEC with 25 home runs, which ranks second in program history for single-season home runs.
Fischer tied the Tennessee single-season walk record with 63 and reached base in all 65 games as the Vols made a run to the NCAA super regional. The Milwaukee Brewers selected Fischer with the No. 20 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
