Ten Tennessee high schools were awarded $5,000 each as a part of T-Mobile's Friday Night 5G Lights, and they have the chance to win a $1 million football field.
The program is centered around small-town football and awards grants to towns of 150,000 people or less, according to T-Mobile.
Schools that received the $5,000 grant can use the funds as they please, whether it be for football, academics or another school department in need of the money. Here are the 10 Tennessee high schools that received $5,000:
- Claiborne High School, New Tazewell
- Coalfield High School, Harriman
- Cocke County High School, Newport
- Cosby High School, Cosby
- Cumberland County High School, Crossville
- Fayette-Ware High School, Somerville
- Hardin County High School, Savannah
- Marion County High School, Jasper
- South Pittsburg High School, South Pittsburg
- Wartburg Central High School, Wartburg
These 10 schools will advance as Friday Night 5G Lights selects finalists of bigger awards. Larger grants include a $25,000 prize if in the top 40, a $250,00 prize if in the final four and the winning high school will receive a $1 million football
field transformation.
Schools that qualify can still enter to be one of the 40 division finalists by Sept. 18 by applying on T-Mobile's website.
