Tennessee football left guard Wendell Moe is out for the season after suffering a lower leg injury in the Vols' 20-17 loss to Texas, a source told Knox News on Sept. 30
The source requested anonymity because UT has not made an official announcement.
Moe is the seventh Tennessee player to suffer a season-ending injury only four games into the 2026 season. He joins starting safety Edrees Farooq (knee), starting tight end Ethan Davis (knee), safety Dylan Lewis (foot), wide receiver/kick returner Joakim Dodson (leg), linebacker Jaedon Harmon (knee), cornerback Jadais Richard (upper-body).
No. 17 Tennessee (3-1, 0-1 SEC) plays Auburn (3-1, 1-1) on Oct. 3 (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Neyland Stadium.
Moe suffered the injury on the opening drive of the Texas
game on Sept. 26. He went to the locker room and did not play again.
Moe is arguably Tennessee's most accomplished and experienced offensive lineman. He earned All-Pac 12 honors in 2023 at Arizona. He transferred to Tennessee and earned All-SEC honors last season. He has played 44 games in his career with 42 starts.
When Moe left the Texas game, Sham Umarov moved from right guard to left guard to replace him. Then West Virginia transfer Donovan Haslam entered the lineup to right guard. That's one of the leading options for the Vols if Moe is unavailable.
