The Knoxville Police Department released body camera footage of the interaction that preceded a man's death in custody earlier this month.
The Knoxville Police Department said in a news release officers were called to the BreadBox convenience store on Sutherland Avenue on Aug. 5 because Patrick Allen, 46, refused to leave.
Officer Lucas Cunningham was the first officer to arrive on scene and officer Riley Lackey arrived afterward, police said. Officers struggled with Allen when he refused to leave.
Allen "sustained minor visible injuries" in the struggle and was placed in a squad car.

"He was alert, conscious and walked to the cruiser under his own power," police said in a news release at the time.
When emergency medical personnel arrived, his condition deteriorated and they started CPR. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and KPD’s Office of Professional Standards are investigating, which is routine. Those investigations are ongoing.
Three officers were placed on leave.
