It’s official: the mustaches are back. After years of speculation, the third installment of the cult comedy franchise, distributed by Searchlight Pictures, is a reality. The film, released on August 7, 2026, brings back the entire Broken Lizard comedy troupe
for another round of irreverent humor and questionable law enforcement. Jay Chandrasekhar returns to direct and star as Arcot "Thorny" Ramathorn, alongside Kevin Heffernan as the loudmouthed Rod Farva, Paul Soter as Foster, Steve Lemme as Mac, and Erik Stolhanske as Rabbit. The plot this time around is centered on the most chaotic event imaginable: Farva’s wedding. He’s engaged to Thorny’s sister, Sarita, and as the troopers gather for the over-the-top festivities, they get pulled into an investigation of a new local drug ring.
Hannah Simone: From the Loft to the Barracks
Best known for her role as the sharp, witty Cece Parekh on the long-running sitcom New Girl, Hannah Simone is a perfect addition to the franchise's chaotic energy. In Super Troopers 3, she plays Sarita Makundan, Thorny's sister and the unsuspecting fiancée of none other than Rod Farva. Her casting brings a fresh dynamic to the group, placing her at the very center of the film's conflict as Thorny desperately tries to stop the wedding. Simone's adept comedic timing and ability to play the straight woman reacting to surrounding absurdity—a skill honed over seven seasons of living in a loft with three dysfunctional men—make her an ideal foil for Farva's signature brand of obnoxious charm. Chace Crawford: Diving into a New Role
If you still think of Chace Crawford as the pretty-boy Nate Archibald from Gossip Girl, you haven't been paying attention. His scene-stealing turn as The Deep in Amazon's The Boys has completely redefined his career, showcasing a surprising and hilarious talent for playing a deeply insecure, self-absorbed parody of a superhero. It’s that comedic sensibility he’s bringing to Super Troopers 3. He plays Baker Buchanan, one of a pair of brothers who are former pot dealers turned wedding planners. The Broken Lizard crew were reportedly huge fans of his work on The Boys and he was their first choice for the part; it turned out Crawford was a massive Super Troopers fan himself. His role as a smarmy antagonist who clashes with the troopers feels like a natural and very funny fit.
Nat Faxon: The Comedy Veteran
While Simone and Crawford are exciting additions, the casting of Nat Faxon is a major score for comedy purists. Faxon is not just a gifted comedic actor, known for roles in The Way Way Back and Married, but he's also an Academy Award-winning screenwriter, having won an Oscar for co-writing The Descendants. In Super Troopers 3, Faxon steps into the role of Captain Todd Markowski, the new authority figure presiding over the troopers now that Captain O'Hagen (Brian Cox) is retired. Anyone who has seen Faxon’s work knows he excels at playing characters who are barely holding it together, often with a mix of exasperation and misguided confidence. Putting him in a position of authority over this particular group of troublemakers is a recipe for comedic gold.
