An Exercise in Clarity
The tone for Spring/Summer 2027 was set not with a bang, but with a sharp, focused statement. The theme of the Prada show, held at the Fondazione Prada, was 'Clarity'. This was an intentional rebellion against what co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and
Raf Simons called "useless design." The show space itself underscored this mission: a transparent Perspex runway built over a grid of fluorescent strip lights created the effect of an enormous lightbox, designed to amplify the clothes without distraction. The message was clear before the first model even appeared: in a world of noise and excess, Prada is advocating for precision and purpose.
The Uniform Redefined
The collection was a deep dive into the fundamentals of the modern wardrobe, specifically targeting ubiquitous garments like jeans, T-shirts, and denim jackets. But instead of celebrating them in their typical forms, Prada and Simons deconstructed and re-materialized them. The classic five-pocket jean, for example, was stripped of its traditional indigo denim and reimagined in stiff leather, Prince of Wales check, and houndstooth tailoring fabrics.
