Yes, It's Really Happening
After years of rumors and fan anticipation, the third installment of the cult comedy franchise, officially titled 'Super Troopers 3', landed in theaters on August 7, 2026. The entire Broken Lizard comedy troupe—Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve
Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske—returned to write and star in the film, with Chandrasekhar once again in the director's chair. Following the crowdfunded success of 'Super Troopers 2' in 2018, the team secured a deal with Searchlight Pictures for the next chapter, ensuring the beloved characters would ride again, albeit in a very different kind of ceremony.
A Match Made in Hell
The central plot moves the action away from the Canadian border and into a wildly chaotic family event: the wedding of none other than the obnoxious Rodney Farva (Kevin Heffernan). And who is the unfortunate bride? It's Sarita (Hannah Simone), the sister of his fellow trooper, Arcot "Thorny" Ramathorn (Jay Chandrasekhar). The story kicks off when Farva, in a rare moment of seeming heroism, saves Sarita from a car crash he secretly caused, leading to a whirlwind romance. This sets up the primary conflict: Thorny is horrified by the engagement and makes it his personal mission to expose Farva and stop the wedding at all costs.
New Faces, Same Old Shenanigans
While the core cast is back, including Brian Cox as the retired Captain O'Hagen, they're joined by a host of new characters. Nat Faxon steps in as the new captain, while Andrew Dismukes plays a fresh-faced rookie who threatens Rabbit's (Erik Stolhanske) status as the new guy. The wedding setting also introduces Chace Crawford and Jon Rudnitsky as brothers who are hired as wedding planners but are secretly running a drug operation. Their scheme involves a new narcotic called "Canadian Crystal," pulling the troopers back into a criminal investigation amidst the personal turmoil. This blend of nuptial nonsense and police work ensures the classic 'Super Troopers' formula of pranks and detective work remains intact, just with higher personal stakes.
More Than Just Wedding Crashers
The film doesn't just rely on the awkwardness of Farva marrying into Thorny's family. It weaves the troopers' signature chaos into the very fabric of the wedding preparations. The bachelor party becomes a key event where Thorny tries to show his family Farva's unhinged true colors, only for it to backfire spectacularly. Meanwhile, Mac (Steve Lemme) becomes entangled in the drug plot when he discovers the wedding planners are using a local syrup company as a front for their illegal activities. This culminates in a climax where a drug-filled elephant statue and a high-tech electric patrol car with a sassy personality both play pivotal roles in saving the day, and potentially, the wedding itself.
