First Comes Love, Then Comes Farva
The central disaster driving the plot is, believe it or not, a wedding. But not just any wedding—it’s Farva’s. After he heroically pulls a woman from a car wreck, she falls head over heels for him. The problem? The woman is Sarita Makundan (Hannah Simone),
the sister of none other than Trooper Arcot “Thorny” Ramathorn. This sets up the main conflict: Thorny is horrified at the prospect of the loud-mouthed, obnoxious Farva becoming his brother-in-law and makes it his personal mission to sabotage the engagement and expose Farva for the fraud he is. The entire plot is framed around this wildly over-the-top Indian wedding, providing the perfect chaotic backdrop for the troopers’ signature brand of dysfunctional law enforcement.
Thorny's Big (and Very Personal) Problem
For Thorny, this isn't just about hating Farva; it's about protecting his family. His “big problem” is a deeply personal one: how to convince his sister and his traditional parents that the man who saved her life is the absolute worst person on Earth. This mission consumes him, leading to a series of desperate and hilarious schemes. He attempts to get Farva to reveal his true colors at the bachelor party, a plan that backfires spectacularly when Thorny's own father gets a little too into the festivities. The conflict is a classic comedy setup, pitting Thorny’s frantic attempts at sabotage against Farva's baffling ability to charm his way into the family's good graces, much to the dismay of everyone who actually knows him.
A New Drug Ring With a Sweet Twist
It wouldn't be a "Super Troopers" movie without a half-baked criminal investigation, and the third installment delivers. While Thorny is busy trying to derail a wedding, the rest of the crew stumbles upon a new drug operation. This time, the illicit substance is a synthetic drug called “Canadian Crystal.” The culprits are a group of former local pot dealers who are now posing as the wedding planners for Farva and Sarita's nuptials, using the event as a cover for their operation. In a plot point that feels right at home in this universe, the drug is being infused into frozen maple syrup, blending criminal enterprise with Vermont's most famous export. Mac is the one who uncovers the scheme, leading to him being frozen in a block of drug-laced syrup before being rescued by the station's new, much-maligned electric patrol car.
How It All Comes Crashing Together
The two main plots—Thorny’s anti-wedding crusade and the drug bust—are designed to collide at the ceremony itself. The wedding planners are the drug dealers, the venue is their front, and a key piece of evidence is hidden inside a large elephant statue intended for the celebration. Just as Thorny obtains dashcam footage proving Farva actually caused his sister's accident in the first place, Farva has a crisis of conscience and confesses. This is immediately followed by a partially-melted Mac arriving to expose the entire drug ring. The climax promises a signature Broken Lizard blend of slapstick, absurdity, and surprisingly effective police work, all set against the backdrop of what is possibly the most ill-advised wedding in Vermont history.
