Often described as "Tailwind for JavaScript," it lets you write your logic directly within your HTML markup. Alpine.js is extremely lightweight and requires no build step; you just include the script on your page and go. It offers the reactive, declarative nature of bigger frameworks like Vue but is designed specifically for cases where a full framework would be overkill. This makes it a direct, modern successor to jQuery's original use case of enhancing server-rendered pages.
The Compile-Time Magician: Svelte
Svelte takes a radical approach. Unlike React or Vue, which do their work in the user's browser, Svelte is a compiler that runs during your development process. It takes your Svelte components and converts them into highly optimized, imperative vanilla JavaScript that updates the DOM directly. The result is often faster performance and smaller bundle sizes because you're not shipping the framework's code to the browser.
