COAS Awards Unit Certificate Of Appreciation To ZRO Shillong On Army Day 2026

On the occasion of Army Day 2026 the Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi PVSM AVSM conferred the COAS Unit Certificate of Appreciation to Zonal Recruiting Office Shillong in recognition of its outstanding contribution towards motivating and recruiting youth from the entire North East region to serve the nation. The award was presented during the Army Investiture Ceremony held at Jaipur on January 14 and 15.The recognition also highlights the Army's focus on inclusive national integration, opportunity creation, and strengthening defence preparedness through regional participation.The certificate was received on behalf of ZRO Shillong by Brig Rajeev Kumar DDG Recruiting along with Sub Major Milkha Singh. The honour acknowledges the sustained

and result oriented efforts of the unit in expanding the reach of recruitment activities across even the most remote districts of the North East.Through meticulous planning and effective outreach initiatives ZRO Shillong achieved a significant 64 percent increase in youth registration for joining the Armed Forces. The intake into the Armed Forces from the region has also witnessed an increase of over 100 percent compared to the previous year. These efforts have resulted in a high level of motivation and satisfaction among the youth of the North Eastern states.ZRO Shillong along with its six Army Recruiting Offices located at Shillong Narangi Jorhat Dimapur Silchar and Aizawl covering seven North Eastern states functioned as a closely coordinated team to achieve this milestone. Strong support from Headquarters Eastern Command its formations and the civil administration played a vital role acting as a force multiplier in the recruitment process.With sustained dedication teamwork and a selfless approach towards selecting the best candidates ZRO Shillong has carved a niche for itself and reinforced its motto of being second to none. The achievement reflects the commitment of the Zone towards ensuring the recruitment of the fittest ones for the finest Army.
