A
cryptic social media post by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, amid the ongoing crisis in Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, had triggered intense political speculation on social media. Following a high-profile National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gathering in New Delhi, Amit Shah took to the platform X to share his appreciation for a classic Bengali street food, writing that he "Relished Tangy, Masaledar and Crunchy Jhalmuri at the NDA meeting."While for many, the post appeared to be an appreciation for 'Jhalmuri', several people suggested that the caption - Tangy, Masaledar and Crunchy - was an acronym 'TMC'.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video on social media showing West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari serving him jhalmuri at a makeshift stall set up at the NDA meeting venue. "Sharing Jhalmuri with fellow NDA leaders at the NDA meeting today," PM Modi captioned the video. As Bengal CM Adhikari handed over a serving of jhalmuri to Modi, the prime minister responded with a thank you. PM Modi then served portions of it to Nabin and Nishad.

BJP chief Nitin Nabin, Union ministers H D Kumaraswamy and Chirag Paswan, BJP ally and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, Uttar Pradesh minister Sanjay Nishad and Bodoland People's Front chief Hagrama Mohilary stood around the prime minister as he munched on the snack. The jhalmuri - essentially a mixture of puffed rice, crunchy vegetables, spices, and a drizzle of mustard oil - first became a talking point when PM Modi made a pitstop to have the snack during the West Bengal Assembly polls. The move had drawn a "drama" barb from Trinamool Congress supremo and the then chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Following this, PM Modi had then hit back with a pun, saying while he enjoyed the snack, the TMC felt the "jhal" (heat).
