New Delhi: Sajid Akram, one of the two gunmen involved in the Australia Bondi Beach terror attack who was killed in the security operation by the Sydney police, made 27 attempts to obtain Australian Permanent
Residency Visa, reports said. However, even after several attempts, Akram failed to secure it. He later obtained a Resident Return Visa and kept his Indian passport.Meanwhile, the Central and State agencies are conducting a detailed inquiry on Sajid. The law enforcement agencies are examining his travel history between India and Australia in the last 27 years, starting from year 1997.
Sajid completed his graduation in 1998 from Anwar-ul College in Nampally. On November 8, 1998, he went to Australia on a student visa.

On August 12, 2001, their son Naveed was born in Australia and granted an Australian Permanent Resident visa.In 2003, Sajid visited Hyderabad along with his wife and married her again according to Muslim rituals.In 2004, he introduced his son to the family. In 2011, Sajid's father expired in Hyderabad’s Tolichowki but he didn’t turn up to attend the final rites.

He used that money to purchase property in Australia. His last visit to Hyderabad was in 2022.Shahid Akram, Sajid's brother informed intelligence officers that the latter never had good ties with his family and only visited Hyderabad few times since he left to Australia in 1998. Shahid also told that Sajid visited Hyderabad last time to sell his share of property. He informed that there was hardly any contact between the two brothers or their families.Sajid was killed in exchange of fire and his son Naveed Akram is admitted to hospital in critical condition. Naveed has been booked under different offences including murder and terror act.
