New Delhi: Anmol Bishnoi, brother and close aide of dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and one of the accused in the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, was extradited to India from the United States on Wednesday. Authorities said Bishnoi had entered the US on a fake passport under the alias Bhanu Pratap as the crackdown on gangsters intensified.Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in India in connection with several high-profile crimes, including the killing of Baba Siddique, the firing at Bollywood star Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024, and the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.Anmol Bishnoi was detained in the United States after discrepancies were found in his travel documents.In May 2022, he fled India on a fake passport issued
in the name of Bhanu Pratap. The passport was created on October 29, 2021, with an expiry date of October 28, 2031.For nearly a year, Bishnoi was lodged in Pottawattamie County Jail. Meanwhile, police in India issued look-out circulars against him, and several Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) remain pending. He has been named as an accused in multiple chargesheets, including the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence and the killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique.In November 2024, US Immigration and Customs detained Bishnoi over irregularities in his travel papers. He was formally “removed” from the United States on Tuesday, following his detention last year.
