About 60 people were injured after two trains collided inside a hydropower project tunnel in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district late Tuesday evening. The incident happened when a loco train carrying workers and officials collided with a goods train inside Pipalkoti tunnel of the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project tunnel, officials said.Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar said that there were a total of 109 people on the train at the time of the accident, which occurred late in the evening, and 60 of them were injured.
He said that all the people have been rescued and condition of all the injured is stable.
The DM said that one train carrying people and another carrying materials were moving inside the Pipalkoti tunnel of the project, being constructed by THDC (India), when they collided.

Goods Train Derails in Bihar
In another incident, on Monday, train services on the Howrah-Patna route remained disrupted owing to the derailment of eight wagons of a goods train at Simultala in Bihar's Jamui district.
Several express trains were rescheduled due to the derailment of eight wagons of the goods train on Saturday night, the official said.An inquiry was initiated into the cause of the accident that took place between Lahabon and Simultala railway stations under the Asansol division of Eastern Railway.It resulted in the disruption of the movement of a number of trains, causing inconvenience to passengers.
