The Union Government has appointed Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, filling the top executive post at the government's public policy think tank.A 1989-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Jain has held several key positions in both the state and central governments. Before taking over as Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary in 2024, he served as Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and also held additional charge of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.Jain takes over from Nidhi Chhibber, who had been holding additional charge as CEO after the completion of former CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam's tenure in February 2026. Subrahmanyam, a former IAS officer and ex-Chief
Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, had led NITI Aayog since 2023 before completing his extended term.
