Doha: Bill Gates, one of the world's richest men and also, philanthropist, today praised India's health care efforts, pointing out that India doesn't want much health care funding from outside any more,
a probable reference to self sufficiency. He also mentioned India, saying "stuff on Artificial Intelligence was happening in India", much of the "foundational stuff" was happening in China and the United States of America. The AI "doctors", he said, could field questions from anyone, anywhere and come up with useful answers to fight health problems. The service will be free and infrastructure building won’t be necessary."Malaria kills 600,000 children… there is no reason why there should be malaria in Asia," Gates said.Health, he said, was the area that needed a lot of support, particularly after aid cuts by the USA. Asking countries to be generous, he said "we can finish polio and malaria. And also, tuberculosis and HIV".Gates spoke strongly against malnourishment, particularly in the case of infants.Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani, chairperson of the Qatar Museums and the Doha Film Institute, spoke of how “all of Bollywood was here last week.” And referred to the potential of Africa with its talent.
