ECI Orders Special Revision of Electoral Rolls in Assam Ahead of Next Year’s Assembly Election

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced a special revision of electoral rolls in Assam, where Assembly elections are scheduled for March–April 2026. This decision comes a month after the central poll body ordered a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voters in 12 states—including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan—under phase two of the voter revision exercise.
